COMMUNIONCommunion, sometimes called the Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper, is an essential act of worship in Christian churches.

In what has become known as the Last Supper, Jesus shared Passover with his most intimate followers on the night he was betrayed.  At that Passover, Jesus taught his disciples that the meal was a way to remember his sacrifice and to celebrate the unity we all experience as his followers

John Wesley spoke of communion as an eternal mystery. The word sacrament comes from a Greek word that means mystery.  In some mysterious way, when we come to the Lord’s Table we are present with Christ and experience God’s grace.

Participating in communion is not enough for salvation; we are not forgiven and redeemed simply by eating and drinking the cup and bread.  But Christ, through the Holy Spirit, is present when we take communion and he draws us into relationship with God. This family meal, for all of God’s children, is a wonderful gift to us from our Heavenly Father. Holy Communion is a time of reflection, recommitting, and blessing.

The Lord's Table is an open table. All who desire to know the risen Christ, who confess their sings and submit to God are welcome to participate. We encourage children as well as adults to participate, because we believe that God is at work even in the lives of children through this gift and they are blessed by it.

HOW DO WE CELEBRATE COMMUNION?

We prepare to come to the Lord’s Table by confessing our sins to God to prepare our hearts and by using an ancient prayer called the Great Thanksgiving which allows us to praise God together for this wonderful gift.

We receive communion through Intinction which means we dip the bread in the cup and then receive both elements together. You come forward to the server and they will place the bread in your hand for you to then dip in the cup and then eat.
